- To foster effective self-access language learning habits.
- To develop different thinking skills.
- To be able to express verbal / written comments and personal reflections effectively.
- To take initiative to participate in different learning activities inside and outside school e.g. form activities, joint-school activities, speaking festival, study tour, etc.

| Junior Forms |
- To help students master basic reading skills --- scanning, skimming, deducing meaning of a word from its context, understanding the basic structure of English writings, sign-post words, reference words, and so on.
- To reinforce their knowledge and understanding of basic English usage and grammar. Emphasis is placed in first place on refining their writing skills at sentence level.
- To help students to master basic writing skills and different styles of writings.
- To help students to master basic pronunciation skills which would facilitate their reading as well as spelling.
- To foster an interest in reading and listening to English materials.
- To enhance English proficiency through language arts.

- To master the language skills required at the two public exams, namely, HKCEE and AS-UE, with emphasis on skills essential for School-based Assessment(SBA).
- To help students to develop their ability to understand, interpret and use spoken English for practical communication.
- To help students to develop their ability to write clear, concise and grammatical English in an appropriate style.
- To extend the horizons of learning through a wide range of authentic materials.
- To develop reading, writing and study skills in the pursuance of task-based and problem-solving activities.
